Terms and Conditions – Twitter Polls and Voting in ‘Richard Osman’s World Cup Of The Decade’
At various stages between 1 November 2019 and 4 December 2019, Richard Osman will ask Twitter users to cast their votes in his ‘World Cup of the Decade’ for Channel 4, using a combination of Twitter polls and ‘hashtag voting’. By voting in ‘Richard Osman’s World Cup of the Decade’ you are accepting these terms and conditions.
1. Richard Osman will open the Twitter polls and ‘hashtag votes’ on his Twitter profile, @richardosman, on dates and at times to be determined by Richard between 1 November and 4 December 2019. Any votes cast in preliminary ‘wild card’ or research Twitter polls published by Richard in advance of the first rounds do not count towards the main votes for the show.
2. Twitter users will be asked to vote for their favourite contenders in five categories, each consisting of three rounds.
3. In the first round of each category, 16 contenders will compete in four separate Twitter polls each consisting of four contenders. The winner of each poll will go through to the second ‘semi-finals’ round.
4. The second ‘semi-finals’ round will pit the four winners from the previous polls against each other in a single Twitter poll per category. The top two contenders in each category will go through to the final ‘hashtag vote’.
5. The final round is a ‘hashtag vote’ – a ‘head-to-head’ between the top two contenders in each category. The winner of each category will be revealed on the show.
6. Users can only vote in a Twitter poll once per Twitter account. Poll votes can only be cast via the Twitter polls first published on Richard Osman’s Twitter profile, @richardosman. Users must click on the option of their choice to register their poll vote.
7. Once a poll is open, the time remaining until the vote closes will be displayed on the poll. Live poll results will be displayed on the poll during the voting window – please note these are a snapshot only and not an indicator of the final results. Votes made outside the voting window will not be counted.
8. Zeppotron Limited (the producers of the show) have no control over the Twitter poll voting platform and is not able to independently verify results. A guide to Twitter polls can be found here.
9. For the ‘hashtag vote’, each contender will be assigned its own individual hashtag. Votes can be cast by composing a Tweet setting out the chosen hashtag, or by Retweeting the @richardosman Tweet that contains the chosen hashtag. Any Tweet that contains that specific hashtag will then be counted as a vote for that hashtag. The voting window for each ‘hashtag vote’ will be stated by Richard.
10. Only one ‘hashtag vote’ per Twitter account will be counted in each category. The ‘hashtag votes’ will be tracked and counted by an independent third party competition management partner until the vote closes.
11. Participating in voting for Richard Osman’s World Cup of the Decade is not a competition and there are no prizes.
12. To ensure the legitimacy of the vote, eligibility criteria may be applied at Zeppotron Limited’s sole discretion. Zeppotron Limited reserves the right to change, cancel or suspend voting or to substitute an alternative voting method at any time at its absolute discretion. If for any reason the voting system fails, the vote may be suspended, or a contingency plan may be actioned. Zeppotron Limited’s decision in relation to all matters affecting votes is final.
13. Zeppotron Limited cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any loss of connection, technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any online or mobile system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any vote being lost or not properly registered and recorded.
14. To the extent that it collects any personal data, Zeppotron Limited’s use of your personal data will be in accordance with Endemol Shine UK Limited’s Website and Marketing Privacy Policy, which can be found here.
15. Use of Twitter, including voting in Twitter polls, is subject to Twitter’s terms of service, which can be found here.
